Nick’s Biography…

In 1998, after spending many years in the sleep industry, including time spent as a director at Slumberland, one of the largest sleeping comfort groups in Europe, and serving as Chairman of the very first UK Sleep Council, it was time for a change.
Just before starting my gardening leave, I had agreed to sponsor a local football club next to Slumberland’s UK factory and my office, based in the North West of England. Through these connections, a relationship with Manchester United FC and the Manager at that time, Sir Alex Ferguson, developed.
This was a unique opportunity to share my take on what the key factors are in optimising the hours allocated to sleep. Some key moments during that period, included when Sir Alex decided to double up pre-season training sessions, and as a result I set up the very first midday recovery room and encouraged players to nap it out. It was then that I realised the importance of developing individual players’ sleeping profiles (chronotyping, i.e., morning and evening types) because the data gathered revealed a performance shift between AM and PM for the very first time in world sport.
From 2008 leading into the London 2012 Olympics, I was invited to join a new team of top coaches in professional cycling, led by Sir Dave Brailsford. British Cycling and Team Sky: The strategy was to use the principle of “Aggregation of Marginal Gains” to develop the best male and female riders in the world on road and track, put a British rider on top of the Tour de France podium, and break as many world records as possible. They smashed it.
By 2014, sleep had become a key player in elite sports performance, which led me onto some key projects with Real Madrid C.F, Southampton FC, and Manchester City FC. Coaching the first teams, academy players, sports science, medical, and performance staff as well as completing recovery evaluations for the training ground facilities and players’ homes.
In 2015, the international publisher Penguin Random House asked me to write a book about my unique take on sleeping. Somewhat overwhelmed, I agreed, and it was published in 2016. Titled SLEEP, it became a #1 Best Seller, published in 18 Languages worldwide.
Today, I coach across pretty much all sporting disciplines worldwide and some new emerging, sometimes extreme and exciting professional and amateur sports.
Whether you are an elite athlete, a corporate high achiever, a student pulling all-nighters, a new parent juggling work and family, or a shift worker dealing with a crazy schedule, there are tactics, new habits to master, and tools that can help you optimise the hours you allocate to sleeping.
Leigh Frost was born in Bedfordshire, straight into a family of small business owners. Her parents were originally an accountant and a builder before buying a public house in the small village of Shillington, Bedfordshire, which they turned into a huge success.
Leigh’s training is in graphic design, which meant she could combine her love of art and technology, and she has worked in sales for a variety of industries, such as recruitment, food and beverage, flooring, logistics and banking.

Her first business was started when she was 22: a courier company that she sold after 2 years of business and a whole raft of lessons! Two years later, having decided that being employed was fine but being a business owner was much more rewarding, she started her second company: Truesilver. She is married to husband Tom.
Truesilver was founded in 2003 and has been the marketing engine for hundreds of SMEs over more than two decades.
How Ultimate Sleep Method started
Leigh says…
“I have mild ADHD and I grew up in a pub. Why do these two facts define how I sleep?
Well, from 8 years old to 16 years old, I fell asleep every night to the chatter of the customers in the bar downstairs.
My mild ADHD means that when I wake up, that’s it, I’m awake. Which is fine when it’s actually waking up time, but I spent a good few decades waking up in the middle of the night, and if I started THINKING, my brain would kick in. Thoughts would start whirling around my head, and that was it. No more sleep for me.
I was always worried about getting my prescribed “8 hours”.
In 2024, I started experimenting with listening to soundtracks, music and films to stop my brain from firing at 2am.
I found that voices talking was the best thing to shut my brain up. When you put two and two together, I probably on some level miss the noise of the pub. I started listening to films and audiobooks. One of which was Nick Littlehales’ book Sleep.
The methods in the book, which we’ll go into in the Ultimate Sleep Method, changed how I approached sleep and changed my productivity immeasurably.
In the summer of 2026 two people in my life, a friend and a colleague, were diagnosed with long-term illnesses. Both of their situations were clearly exacerbated by lack of sleep. I recommended Nick’s book to them, but I had a hunch they couldn’t see how something as simple as a book would help.
In Sleep, Nick talks about how the World Health Organisation doesn’t even mention sleep for adults in their guidelines despite the links between lack of sleep and heart conditions, diabetes, obesity, depression, and many more.
I suddenly became certain that more people need to stop the 8 hours of junk sleep and start optimising their sleep.
So I reached out to Nick via his website (making sure I dropped enough references into the message to prove I actually knew the book!) and convinced that he’d think I was a loon, asked for a 15-minute conversation to help more people find out about his R90 method.
Our mission is to help as many people as possible learn to sleep anywhere, at any time.
This course is what came about from there.”
